What is Coumadin?
Warfarin also known as Coumadin is an anticoagulant. It has other brand names like Jantoven, Marevan, and Waran.
Coumadin is used to help prevent and treat blood clots in the legs, lungs, and those clots associated with heart-valve replacement or an irregular, rapid heartbeat called atrial fibrillation.
If you have had a heart attack, COUMADIN may be used to lower the risk of death, another heart attack, stroke, and blood clots moving to other parts of the body.
Coumadin Clinic
To serve patients better we offer an in-house Anti-Coagulation/Coumadin Therapy Clinic for patients who are taking Coumadin or Warfarin. During your Coumadin Clinic Visit, you will get your test done and your dose managed in that visit. Anticoagulation adjustment and management is more accurate when monitored by a single
provider.
Visit Co-pays
Since the Anti Coagulation Therapy Clinic is considered an office visit, standard office visit charges will apply so if your insurance requires a copay, it will be collected that at the time of service.
What to expect during the visit
During your visit, you will receive a finger stick prick and a drop of blood will be used to run the test. Your results will be immediate, your current medication dose will be confirmed and if needed your dose will be adjusted. If necessary, your physician may perform a physical examination
You will be scheduled for your next visit to the Coumadin Clinic.
What if I have never been to your office
If you are new, your first coumadin visit will be scheduled as a new patient, we will take your full medical history within the visit and this will help the physician manage your PT and INR levels during subsequent visits. Once you are established subsequent visit will be faster.
What if I don't have insurance
If you are self pay patient, your initial visit will be discounted just like all our cash pay patients and your subsequent visits will be $30.00.
